How Shopify Integration Works

The Rank Sector Shopify integration allows you to publish blog articles directly to your Shopify store's blog. Once connected, articles are automatically sent with formatting, images, and metadata intact.

Setup Instructions

Step 1: Install the Rank Sector App

Visit the Shopify App Store and search for "Rank Sector". Click Install to add the app to your Shopify store.

Step 2: Authorize the App

During installation, Shopify will ask you to grant the required permissions for Rank Sector to manage your blog content. Review the permissions and click Install app to authorize the connection.

Rank Sector only requests the minimum permissions needed to create and manage blog posts. We do not access your product catalog, orders, or customer data.

Step 3: Copy Your Access Token

Once installed, open the Rank Sector app from your Shopify admin panel. The app will display your access token (it starts with shpat_). Copy this token for the next step.

Step 4: Create Integration in Rank Sector

In your Rank Sector dashboard, navigate to the Integration step in onboarding (or go to Integrations in settings). Select Shopify and paste the access token. Configure:

  • Blog — Select which Shopify blog to publish to
  • Author name — Set the default author for published articles
  • Publishing status — Choose whether articles are published immediately or saved as drafts

Step 5: Configure Your Store

Map your Shopify blog, author, and publishing options to match your store's content strategy. You can update these settings at any time from the Rank Sector integration settings page.

Articles generated in Rank Sector will be published live on your Shopify blog as soon as they are created.

Save as Draft

Articles are sent as draft posts so your team can review, edit, and manually publish them from Shopify admin.

Troubleshooting

Access token invalid

Regenerate a new shpat_ token from the Rank Sector app in your Shopify admin and update it in your Rank Sector integration settings.

Blog not appearing

Verify that your Shopify store has at least one blog created. Navigate to Shopify Admin → Online Store → Blog posts and ensure a blog exists.

Content formatting issues

Check that your Shopify theme supports standard HTML content in blog posts. Some themes may apply custom styling that conflicts with formatting.

Never share your Shopify access token publicly. If you believe your token has been compromised, regenerate it immediately from the Rank Sector app in your Shopify admin.

  • Keep the app updated — Ensure the Rank Sector app in your Shopify store is always running the latest version.
  • Use strong admin passwords — Protect your Shopify admin account with a strong password and two-factor authentication.
  • Review permissions regularly — Periodically check the permissions granted to the Rank Sector app in your Shopify admin.
  • Monitor published content — Regularly review your Shopify blog to ensure articles are publishing correctly.
