What we collect
When you sign up for Ranksector, we collect the information you provide directly: your name, email address, company name, billing details, and the websites you connect to our platform. We also collect technical data automatically as you use the product, including IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, actions taken inside the dashboard, and publish logs from your connected blogs. We do not ask for sensitive categories of personal data (health, political beliefs, biometrics). If you email support or engage our team on a call, we retain that correspondence so we can follow up and improve the service.
How we use it
We use your information to run Ranksector: generate keyword research for your niche, write and publish articles to your connected blog, send you onboarding and product emails, process payments, and respond to support requests. We also use aggregated, de-identified usage data to debug issues, measure feature adoption, and decide what to build next. We will never sell your personal information, and we do not use your content or private data to train third-party foundation models. Account emails are transactional by default; marketing emails require your opt-in and include a one-click unsubscribe link in every message we send.
Cookies & tracking
Ranksector uses a small set of cookies and similar technologies. Essential cookies keep you signed in, remember your workspace, and secure your session against CSRF attacks; these cannot be disabled without breaking the product. Analytics cookies from PostHog and Google Analytics help us understand how the dashboard is used in aggregate, so we can improve it. We do not run third-party advertising pixels on our marketing site. You can manage non-essential cookies from the banner shown on your first visit and adjust your preferences anytime in your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies does not affect core product functionality.
Third-party services
We rely on a short list of trusted sub-processors to deliver Ranksector. Stripe handles payment processing and card data (we never see your full card number). PostHog powers product analytics and session replays, with sensitive inputs masked by default. Google Analytics provides aggregate marketing-site traffic insights. Resend delivers transactional email on our behalf. Each provider maintains its own privacy policy, which we recommend reviewing. The current list of sub-processors, along with the data categories each one receives, is available on request by emailing hi@ranksector.com and we will send it within two business days.
Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your Ranksector workspace is active. If you cancel, we retain your content archives and billing records for ninety days so you can reactivate without losing your work, then we delete or anonymize personal data except where we are legally required to keep it (for example, tax records, which we hold for seven years). Product analytics events are retained for up to twenty-four months in aggregate form. Support tickets are kept for two years so we can reference prior conversations. You can request immediate deletion at any time by emailing hi@ranksector.com with your account email.
Security
We protect your data with industry-standard controls. All traffic to and from Ranksector is encrypted with TLS 1.2 or higher. Data at rest is encrypted with AES-256 on managed infrastructure. Access to production systems is limited to a small on-call team, gated behind SSO, hardware security keys, and audit logging. We run quarterly access reviews and an annual third-party penetration test. No system is perfectly secure, but if we ever detect a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you within seventy-two hours as required by law, and we will tell you what happened and what we are doing about it in plain English.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
If you live in the EU, UK, or California, you have specific rights over your personal data. You can request access to the data we hold about you, correction of anything inaccurate, deletion of your account and its contents, a portable copy of your data in JSON, or restriction of certain processing. California residents may also opt out of any sharing that might qualify as a sale under CCPA (we do not sell data, but we honor the Global Privacy Control signal regardless). To exercise any of these rights, email hi@ranksector.com from your account address. We respond within thirty days and do not charge a fee for standard requests.
International transfers
Ranksector is operated from the European Union, but our sub-processors may store or process data in the United States and other jurisdictions. When personal data leaves the EU or UK, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, plus supplementary technical measures such as encryption in transit and at rest, to safeguard the transfer. Where a vendor is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, we rely on that certification as well. If you have questions about how a specific transfer is protected, or you would like a copy of the applicable SCCs, email hi@ranksector.com and we will provide the documentation.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features, new sub-processors, or changes in the law. When we make a material change, we will post the revised policy here, update the “last updated” date at the top of the page, and notify active customers by email at least thirty days before the change takes effect. Non-material changes (typo fixes, clarifications, reorganizations) will be made silently. You can always find the previous version on request by writing to hi@ranksector.com. By continuing to use Ranksector after an update takes effect, you accept the new policy.
